Google has been the dominant way people find information online for more than 20 years. And while Google remains the “go-to” tool for numerous consumer needs, a new paradigm is emerging.

AI applications like ChatGPT are engaging users with compelling new conversational experiences, and Google is playing catch up.

Google has been an AI pioneer, and it's scrambling to evolve the search experience, but it's not the AI leader. That’s ChatGPT. In a little more than two years, the company has gained 300 million weekly users and successfully positioned itself as a viable search alternative. In our survey, 57% percent of AI users reported using it on a daily basis. Many in that group use it multiple times a day.

The survey shows that while search is still the preferred way for finding information, a potentially profound shift in consumer behavior is underway.
