We've now fielded two surveys, digested many others, and conducted roughly 25 local business interviews. We've also had formal and informal discussions with a range of entrepreneurs and SaaS veterans across the local ecosystem. Some very interesting themes are emerging, which we'll continue to develop.

What follows below are some big-picture takeaways and observations from the data and interviews in the first half.

ChatGPT owns the 'AI brand' – for now

AI is everywhere. And every SaaS company from San Francisco to Singapore has press releases and websites touting AI capabilities. But there is no single company or product more associated with generative AI than OpenAI and ChatGPT.

Our data and interviews reflect that ChatGPT has roughly twice the adoption among local businesses of the next most popular platform: Google Gemini. This is also true for marketing agencies.
